Event: The Vagina Monologues returns to HK on Feb 12th and 14th

The 7th annual charity performance of the Vagina Monologues is to take place next month in Hong Kong.

The play, originally written and performed by Eve Ensler, has been hailed by The New York Times as “funny” and “poignant” and the Daily News as “intelligent” and “courageous”. It has been performed all over the world, from London to Seattle.

VDAY is hosting the performance in Hong Kong. VDAY is a global activist movement formed to end violence against women and girls, raising funds through benefit productions of playwright and founder Eve Ensler’s award winning play. It has raised over US$120 million and has opened shelters and provided education on the prevention of violence against women all over the world.

All proceeds will go to Helpers for Domestic Helpers, which has helped over 25,000 foreign domestic workers seek justice and safety in their working environments. They provide them with legal council, child care, and living facilities to help escape from abusive households.

The Vagina Monologues will be showing on February 12 and 14 at 7:30pm at Orange Peel in Lan Kwai Fong. Tickets are $200 online and $250 at the door. Prices include a drink and doors will open at 7pm. Due to adult language and content, the show is restricted to ages 18 and up.
