PLACES – A Visit to Causeway Bay’s Cat Cafe

Usually associated with Japan or Korea, HK also has a cat cafe – Ah Meow (aka Cat Store) in Causeway Bay is home to around 10 kitties…

The eatery serves cat-themed food and drink (without an entrance/cover charge)…

Clearly spoilt by the constant stream of attention, most of the cats are utterly indifferent to petting…

…whilst several of the older cats seem outright resentful, craving peace and quiet above anything else…

Luckily, the resident felines have little interest in diner’s food (menu PDF), as they have their own unlimited supply…

The are around a dozen small tables available to book (the cafe is very busy at peak times). All visitors will be competing with others for the attention of the moggies…

A range of stationery, gifts, accessories and BulooBird Deserts, cakes and snacks are available…

Some campaigners have suggested that cat cafes are cruel as they make for a high-stress environment for the animals who are stuck in a busy, noisy, confined space.

The menu consists of mostly western fare with items ranging from $40-$100. Click here for Open Rice reviews.

There are a number of rules patrons must follow – such as ‘don’t pick up the cats!’…

It is open from noon till 11pm Mon-Thurs, until midnight on Friday through Saturday and from noon till 10pm on Sundays…
