Diana Jou and Lara Day of the Wall Street Journal have produced a new 15-minute documentary about the Kowloon Walled City. Once the densest place on Earth, the colourful, maze-like hotbed of of ‘crime, grime, commerce and hope’ was torn down 20 years ago…
Below are shots from ‘City of Darkness: Life in Kowloon Walled City‘ – a photobook by Greg Girard and Ian Lambot.
The duo are planning an expanded, follow-up edition…
They are seeking funds via Kickstarter – click below to visit…
This project will only funded if at least £50,000 (HK$644,983) is pledged by April 19th. Read an interview with the pair at Gwulo or visit their website here.

Am looking forward to Greg Girard and Ian Lambot’s new boook. I’ve always been fascinated by the walled city. Luckily, it is possible to get sort of but not quite the same experience with some urban villages in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. I’ll be making some posts about that on my blog http://natetseng.wordpress.com soon
