The city’s weather has been quite erratic this week – ranging from just 8c to 20c over a couple of days. Children across Hong Kong have been layered up like Kenny from South Park clutching ‘hot eggs‘.
It is often said how kids here have never seen snow, however I found today that the Fragrant Harbour has turned white 4 times, according to the local observatory.
Though the city often sees frost in the New Territories over winter, actual snow was recorded twice in 1967 and again in 1971. The last and only other time it was seen was 37 years ago, when it was “very widespread through the New Territories”.
