POLITICS – Security Chief Tells Women: ‘Reduce Drinking’ to Get Raped Less

Prize fool and HK Security Chief, Lai Tung-Kwok, has advised women to cut down on drinking in order to reduce the city’s soaring rape figures…

“All of these (rape) cases happened between those who know each other. They are either friends, close friends or they just met a few hours ago… Some of these cases also involved the victims being raped after drinking quite a lot of alcohol. So I would ask that young ladies not drink too much.”

The Standard reported on his comments today but failed to call him out on them. Cases of rape have increased 60% to 35 reported incidents in the first quarter of 2013, yet attitudes which blame victims excuse perpetrators and reduce the likelihood of prosecuting rapists.

The SCMP and Standard reported today that the dreadful Evangelical Free Church of China Yan Fook organised the “Inclusive Love Praying Concert” – which clearly was neither inclusive nor loving.

The right-wing bi-lingual ‘megachurch’ has a 10,000-strong congregation and was founded in the mid-80s. Ultra-wacky conservative Christian pressure/hate group, the Society for Truth and Light, were also in attendance. The group previously spent HK$1million to educate the HK public about the “scientific and social research” which proves homosexuals are ‘invalid’ purveyors of STDs. Quite.

EVENTS – Peaceful Protest in Solidarity With Gaza – THIS SUNDAY, Victoria Park 2pm.

A peaceful protest is being organised to show solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, suffering under the illegal Israeli led occupation and escalating onslaught of attacks. Earlier this week, Israel launched “Operation Pillar of Clouds” with a series of air strikes. These attacks have continued despite reports of civilian casualties. Hamas is retaliating and it’s likely this conflict will escalate further.

Meet at Victoria Park statue – South Playground, Hong Kong at 2pm and walk towards the Israel Consulate (Admiralty).

It has been left to the citizens to clean up the mess left by the plastic pellets spill back in June. 150 tons of snow-like plastic confetti was deposited in Hong Kong waters after a vessel was rocked by category 4 hurricane winds earlier in the year…
